Welcome

"I Have Standards" abstinence program is the first of its kind in the state of Maryland. Enrolling your child in this program ensures that your child will become a pioneer in the abstinence until marriage movement that has taken root throughout America! Your child will be a leader in his or her generation! A leader that is healthy with high-morals and strong character.

The "I Have Standards!" CBAE team is committed to bringing to the youth of Prince George's County and Baltimore a program that will teach in depth not only lessons in healthy decision-making, but also the academic and language-arts skills critical to your teen's future success. The team members who will be guiding your teens through the next few months have worked very hard to create a course of study that will meet project objectives and goals.

About the Curriculum - Project Reality: This curriculum has been chosen for its effectiveness in teaching the basic lessons of abstinence education. Your teens will gain both knowledge and confidence to overcome the highly toxic sexualized culture in which we all live today.

Game Plan - For age group 12 - 14 - Middle School Students

Navigator - For age group 15 - 18 - High School Students

Enrolling your teenager in this program means, he or she will have an opportunity to practice academic skills such as vocabulary building, essay writing, college prep, and life skills development.

As your teen grows with us over the next five years, he or she will learn skills they need to be successful in today's world because they will be able to make the right choices that will affect their health today.

Why are parents essential partners in meeting the goals of the project?

It takes every one of us working together to make a difference in order to reverse the negative influences that the sexual revolution has had on our culture. In making the difference, research shows that the greatest factor in behavior change for youth is the role of parents.

Parents are the most important people in the lives of their children.

“I HAVE STANDARDS!”

I HAVE STANDARDS! Yes I do

So if you want to talk with me, you’d better have them too

I like being respected

Not being used and rejected

I like having a good time

But good time does not mean I give you ALL that’s mine

I HAVE STANDARDS! Yes I do

And you can have these same standards too

I choose to abstain from sex, drugs and alcohol

Because I want to move forward with my life and not trip and fall

I believed God when He said avoiding these things are His best

He loves us and as a Father--He wants to protect

Some people like to think that God doesn’t want us to have fun

But He’s protecting us from the baby mama,

daddy drama, sleeparama, STD’s, I’m not done

The heartbreak of being used, misused and abused

That’s a game I don’t want to play because we’ll lose

I am choosing to abstain from sex until I’m married

I will not be pressured by anyone to be hurried

I want to reach my goals

And I want to do that being healthy and whole

I HAVE STANDARDS!  Yes I do

Because I want what’s best for my life—and you should too!
