WELCOME

The "I Have Standards!" Community-Based Abstinence Education program is the first of its kind in the state of Maryland, located in Prince George's County.

Also known as CBAE
, this year, students that enroll in our Class of 2010 CBAE Program will be involved in a rigorous leadership development program.

The after school CBAE Leadership Program starts in February 2010. A link to the ‘program calendar’ and class times is above.

This year, youth that attend day or evening high school classes between ages 14 to 21 are eligible to enroll and participate in our new Youth Leadership Development Program. Enrolling your child in this program ensures that your child will become a pioneer in the abstinence until marriage movement that has taken root throughout America! Your child will be a leader in his or her generation!

A leader is a person that is healthy with high-moral standards and strong character. The "I Have Standards!" CBAE team is committed to the work it will take to develop youth leaders.

Our leadership program will not only enforce the abstinence message that teaches student how and when to make healthy decisions, but also build the academic and workforce skills critical to developing youth leadership.

About the Curriculum“I Have Standards!” partnered with Abstinence and Marriage Partnership Resource Group to provide our abstinence education curriculum entitled Navigator. We chose the Navigator curriculum for its effectiveness in teaching the life changing lessons about Vision, Clarity, Direction, Safety, Strength, Character, Companionship, Destination, and the goal setting skills that are necessary to live a long healthy self-sustaining monogamous life. A & M Resources

While our focus is about teaching students the importance of abstinence and how living an abstinent life-style provides scientific evidence that refraining from sexual activity until married or economically self sustained will prevent unwanted teen pregnancies and eliminates the emotional distress and physical damage associated with sexual transmitted infections and/or diseases - most of which cannot be cured and are fatal.

Your high school youth will gain both knowledge and confidence to overcome adversity and peer-pressure associated with the highly toxic sexualized culture in which we all live today.

Navigator Abstinence Education Curriculum - For age group 14 - 21 – (9th through 12th grade) high school students!

Enrolling your teenager in this after school leadership program means, he or she will have an opportunity to practice academic skills such as vocabulary building, essay writing, college prep, and life and workforce skills develop by attending and participating in this program.

As your teen grows with us, he or she will learn skills they need to be successful in today's world because they will be able to make the right choices today that will affect their health and life tomorrow.

Parent Involvement:
Why are parents’ essential partners in meeting the goals of this year’s leadership program?
We have scheduled five (5) classes to be held on the second Saturday of the month from February through June of 2010 for 200 high school students.
Parents, it is imperative that when you enroll your high school youth in our leadership program that you commit to making sure your child attends all five classes. This is why we have set a 90-day enrollment period. Once you submit the completed and signed enrollment form, you will be contacted by our new Parent Involvement team and your child will be contacted by his or her Youth Mentor. The Parent Involvement Team and Youth Mentor will stay with you and your high school youth until the end of the program.

In addition, we plan to conduct six (6) parent workshops between February and July of 2010. These six workshops will be geographically located to make attending any one of these workshops convenient for you, the parent. Parents, this means that your involvement is critical to the success of this program.

Students enrolled in this year’s program will participate in cultural enrichment and teen summit field trips. We will serve a wholesome lunch during each Saturday class. All classes, events, and activities will be implemented at no charge to you. It takes every one of us working together to make a difference in order to reverse the negative influences that the sexual revolution has had on our culture. In making the difference, research shows that the greatest factor in behavior change for youth is the role of parents. Parents are the most important people in the lives of their children; especially today’s high school youth. We have developed a plan that will make it easier for you to communicate and enjoy talking with your high school youth about life, liberty, and love.

We receive grant funds from the division of Administration of Children and Family of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Your child will be asked to participate in a focus group evaluation project that involves taking two surveys. (Note: No personal data will be collected, we do not sell data, and all information is anonymous.)
